Last night, the State of Texas carried out its 9th execution of the year. Martin Robles was executed for killing two members of a rival gang – John Commisky and Jesus “Chuy” Gonzalez, both 19 – in Corpus Christi in 2002. According to Reuters, “Robles requested no visitors on his side, and no one showed up to witness the execution on behalf of the victims.”
This was the 31st execution to take place in the United States in 2011. Four executions currently are scheduled to take place in Texas in September.
