State of Texas Executes Jesse Hernandez

Last night, March 28, 2012, the State of Texas executed Jesse Hernandez for the murder of 10-month-old Karlos Borjas in 2001.   Hernandez and his wife were babysitting Karlos and his four-year-old sister for a woman who was living with them at the time. According to reports, no relatives of the victim attended the execution.

This was the fourth execution to take place in Texas this year, and the twelfth nationwide.  Hernandez was the 47th person convicted in Dallas County to be executed; Dallas County accounts for the second-highest number of people sentenced to death in Texas.
