New death sentence imposed in Hunt County

Late this afternoon, May 31, 2013, the jury in the capital murder trial of Micah Crofford Brown determined that he should be put to death for killing his ex-wife, Stella Michelle “Doc” Ray, in 2011.  This is the first death sentence out of Hunt County since 2007.  Read more about the case from the Herald Banner.

Texas juries have sentenced three men to date in 2013.  In 2012, nine new death sentences were imposed statewide, reflecting a 75% drop over the last decade.
