A special panel discussion, “The Texas Death Penalty: Family and Friends of the Condemned Speak,” will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Dallas Central Library (O’Hara Hall, 7th floor). The event will feature these speakers:
Melanie Hebert – niece of Spencer Goodman, executed January 18, 2000
Leslea Miller – daughter of Lester Bower, executed June 3, 2015
Dr. Rick Halperin, friend and advocate to Frank McFarland, executed April 29, 1998
Dr. Jennifer McNabb will moderate the discussion, which is part of Human Rights Dallas’s “Dignity Behind Bars” series.
