TEXAS—-execution

2nd execution in 2 days in Texas

Texas has executed the convicted killer of a Houston man gunned down
during a botched burglary.

Kenneth Wayne Morris, whose 38th birthday was Wednesday, was pronounced
dead at 6:16 p.m.

He was condemned for the 1991 fatal shooting of James Adams, 63. Evidence
showed Morris and 2 companions who broke into Adams' home thought the
place contained numerous expensive weapons but got disoriented as they
drove around the neighborhood and picked the wrong house.

Morris becomes the 10th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in
Texas and the 433rd overall since the state resumed capital punishment on
December 7, 1982. Morris becomes the 194th condemned inmate to be put to
death in Texas since Rick Perry became governor in 2001.

Morris becomes the 17th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in
the USA and the 1153rd overall since the nation resumed executions on
January 17, 1977.
