TEXAS:

18-year-old inmate charged in clerk's killing—-Police still searching
for 2 other suspects

Police have charged an 18-year-old Houstonian and are searching for 2
others in connection with last week's shooting of a clerk at a Houston
convenience store.

Dontreal Daval Brown, who was already in the Harris County Jail, was
charged with capital murder in the death of Joe Fernandes, 54, who was
killed at 10 p.m. Tuesday when 3 armed suspects forced their way into the
Siesta Food Mart at 390 Aldine Bender.

HPD spokesman Victor Senties said police believe Dontra M. Joseph, 20, and
Neiman Nelson, 19, robbed Fernandes at gunpoint before fatally shooting
him.

The 3 drove away in an older model, gold- or tan-colored car parked on the
side of the convenience store, officers said.

Brown was later arrested on an unrelated aggravated assault charge.
