The State of Texas executed Daniel Acker last night, Thursday, September 27, just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his motion for a stay. It was the second Texas execution in 24 hours and the 10th this year.

Clarence Brandley, who spent nine years on death row in Texas before his exoneration in 1990, passed away on September 2, 2018 at the age of 66. He came within six days of being executed for a crime he did not commit.

This afternoon, attorneys for Christopher Anthony Young filed a complaint in federal court in response to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles’ 6 to 0 vote to deny Young’s clemency application.  Young faces execution by the State of Texas on July 17, 2018.
